A two-day tornado outbreak occurred April 15-16, 1998. A total of 61 tornadoes were recorded by the Storm Prediction Center. 42 of those were on the 16th. Our summary for today is on an F4 that traveled a short distance through parts of Mississippi County, AR. Two children were killed in a mobile home.
The path length of this tornado was 5 miles. The max width was 400 yards. 12 injuries were reported. The tornado began just west of Manila, AR and tracked northeast destroying several homes and mobile homes. Two children (siblings age 2 1/2 and 5) were killed in one of these mobile homes.

Three small factory and machine shop buildings as well as a furniture store were destroyed. Several other buildings were seriously damaged. The tornado reached the main residential section of Manila destroying several homes. Numerous trees and power lines were also blown down.
